This locomotive was built for stock by Andrew Barclay at Kilmarnock in 1922 along with works number 1739.
The two locomotives were initially supplied to the Consolidated Construction Co Ltd, London and sent for building work at the Clydesdale Steelworks, Mossend, Scotland, where they were known as No.5 (1738) and No.6 (1739). After about one year of use they were returned to Andrew Barclay and were refurbished for resale. Both of these locomotives have been preserved.
Around 1925 this locomotive was sold to Vickers-Commonwealth Steel Products for their works at Waratah, Newcastle. At Comsteel it carried the No 1 and name Juno.
The locomotive was employed at Comsteel plant until diesel power was introduced so that by 1972 it was regarded as a spare engine.
In 1976 the locomotive was sold to the Hunter Valley Steam Railway & Museum (HVSR&M) whilst still in working condition. It then undertook some exhibition shunting at the Rhondda storage site.
With the Hunter Valley Steam Railway & Museum subsequently shifting focus to the Dorrigo branch on the NSW North Coast (and hence renamed as the Dorrigo Steam Railway & Museum), the locomotive was transferred to their new site at Dorrigo station.
The locomotive remains in storage at Dorrigo.
