Preserved Outside Britain

This section is under development.

I  started working on this section during Covid lockdown but in early 2023 I suffered a stroke and  work on it stopped. I am still recovering and have a problem with my vision I have decided to try to upload the work I have done and hopefully continue with it at some time.

The intention of this section is to cover steam locomotives built in Britain which are now to be found in preservation elsewhere.  Most of the engines in this category were built for and worked in the country where they now reside.

When covering locomotives preserved in Britain I only included standard gauge engines apart from very few exceptions which had operated as part of British Railways. I have changed the approach in this section as many countries operated narrow gauge lines as part of the national network. I have therefore included narrow gauge locomotives which operated on lines with a gauge of 2feet 6inch or greater. There may be some exceptions.

I recognise that I have not covered all the locomotives that are preserved outside of Britain but I believe it is a good start. It will take me some time to upload the details I have but I would welcome any additional information that could enhance the website.
