
This 301-475 class locomotive was one of 176 built by Beyer Peacock for the Maatschappij tot Exploitatie van Staatsspoorwegen in the Netherlands. The railway company existed until 1938, when it formally merged with the Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschappij (HSM) to form the Nederlandse Spoorwegen.
The total number of this class of locomotive operated between 1881 and 1940 was 197 and they were nicknamed Great Greens. When purchased they were the largest of this type in Europe.
After being supplied in 1881 this locomotive ran as SS 326 on the Staats Spoorwegen until 1921 where it was used on express and mail services and could achieve speeds of 90kmh. From 1921 it carried the number NS 1326.
Only works number 2101 has been preserved it was set aside for preservation in 1939..Only the SS 326 was preserved for the Railway Museum in 1939.
This locomotive was damaged at the end of the second world war. By 1956 it had been rebuilt and returned to its original state. It is now part of the collection of the Dutch Railway Museum
