Beyer Peacock     Works No 6935    2      2-6-0 + 0-6-2        Australian Portland Cement, Australia       Gauge 3ft 6in

This Beyer-Garratt locomotive was one of two built by Beyer Peacock in Gorton, Manchester in 1939 for the Australian Portland Cement at Fyansford. They were essentially a repeat order of the Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) Ms class supplied around 1912.

The boiler pressure of the two Fyansford locomotives was increased from 160psi to 180psi and a more modern superheater fitted There were also minor changes such as an improved cab.

Australian Portland Cement at Fyansford operated a line between their limestone quarry and the cement processing plant at Fyansford.

The Australian Portland Cement Fyansford railway was rendered obsolete in 1966 when replaced by a conveyor belt system. The remaining fleet of locomotives were donated to various organisations for preservation.

This locomotive acquired the engine units from the other locomotive supplied by Beyer Peacock (works no 6974)

For many years this locomotive (works no 6935) was displayed under a weather roof at the Puffing Billy Museum at Menzies Creek. It was transported to the Bellarine Railway in June 2010 and is now stored at Laker Sidings.
