locomotive was built by Beyer Peacock in Gorton, Manchester in 1944 for the South African Railways.

It is owned by the Transport Heritage Foundation (THF) and is part of the National Collection and is now on static display at the Kleinplasie Museum which is in the old Worcester locomotive shed.
The locomotive travelled from the Germiston locomotive shed to Worcester under its own steam before being the fire was dropped in the locomotive. Unfortunately, the water in the tender was not removed which resulted in the water tank rusting from the inside.
