This Dübs A class locomotive was built by Dübs and Company in Glasgow in 1890 for the Natal Government Railways (NGR) where it carried the number NGR 84.
It later became SAR number 130 in 1912 following the establishment of the South African Railways (SAR).
After being withdrawn from service with the SAR the locomotive was sold for to Brackpan Mines Ltd where it carried the number 3. The Brakpan Mines Company sunk its first two gold mining shafts in 1905 and one of its claims to fame was that at one time it had the highest mine dump in the world at that time being 390 ft above ground level.
By 1972 the locomotive was at Germiston depot.
It was one of the locomotives acquired by Reefsteamers who operated charter trains on the national network from 1995. In December 2019 It was announced that Reefstreamers was closing due to a lack of financial backing or funding and the problems associated with dealing with Government agencies proving too much.
