Hudswell Clarke      Works No 1078    Maroochy    0-4-2T      Moreton Mill, Australia    Gauge 2ft 0in

This locomotive was built by Hudswell Clarke & Co in Leeds in 1914 and delivered to Moreton Mill at Nambour where it was given the name Maroochy after the local Shire.

The Moreton Mill which dates from around 1895 was connected to the Nort Coast railway line via a tramway built to transport the sugar. There were also narrow gauge (2ft) connections to many farms to aid the collection of the sugar canes which is where the locomotive was employed for thw whole of its working life.

The Moreton Mill cane tramway route through the Nambour town centre earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places and remains preserved, albeit now an unused and isolated remnant of the once extensive tramway in the Nambour district. The Moreton Mill system was notable for having a major route threading through the heart of the town’s busy commercial district.

The locomotive was withdrawn from service at Moreton Mill by 1963.

The locomotive subsequently passed through a number of owners and locations.

It was initially based at Gilltraps Auto Museum at Kirra Beach.

By 1976 the locomotive was at the Rocky Point Sugar Mill.

By 1979 it was based at Woongoolba.

In 1981 the locomotive moved to the Redbank Plains.

Around 1986 the locomotive was acquired by a collector and transferred to his industrial premises at Murrumba Downs in Kallangur, north of Brisbane. By 2003 the owner had dismantled the locomotive and considered it to beyond repair

In 2007 the industrial site in Kallangur was sold for redevelopment and cleared along with the locomotive and it has been suggested that it was sold for scrap.
