This locomotive was built by Hudswell Clarke & Co in Leeds in 1938 built to work at the South Johnstone Mill. It was ordered to the same design as one supplied by John Fowler in 1929.
By 1938 John Fowler had ceased to make steam locomotives to concentrate on the production of Detrol and diesel engine locomotives. The result was that the locomotive was built by Hudswell Clarke to the John Fowler design and carried the works plate of both.
See John Fowler 22752 for details.
