locomotive was built by the Hunslet Engine Company in Leeds in 1915 for the Pioneer Sugar Mills Pty Ltd to work at the Inkerman Sugar Mill at Home Hill on the Burdekin River south of Townsville.
The mill was designed and built by the Scottish engineer J Pickering under the instruction of John Drysdale, using machinery manufactured by Geo Fletcher and Company of Derby, England. It was completed in 1914 and began crushing the following year.
The locomotive was withdrawn from service hauling sugar cane in the early 1960s and placed on a plinth in Wangaratta Park at Queens Beach, Bowen.
In January 1975 the locomotive was acquired for private preservation and moved to the owners home in Loftus, Sydney in May 1975. The house was noted for the garage being converted to an engine shed.
The locomotive was overhauled and was returned to working order around 2003.
In 2015 the owner relocated to Junee and established a private line known as Pete’s Hobby Railway.
The locomotive was dismantled for overhaul in 2015.
