At some time the locomotive was sold BCL Limited who operated as a mining and smelting company. Their main centre of operations was the Selebi-Phikwe copper mine in Botswana. Here the locomotive was numbered as LO 806.

The complex which included a deep copper mine and smelter opened in 1973. The ore was transported from the mine to the smelter by steam locomotives purchased from the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) and South African Railways (SAR). By January this locomotive (works no 26061) and classmate 26070 were the last two built by the North British Locomotive Company working anywhere in the world.

The locomotive was at the Selebi-Phikwe copper mine in Botswana which has since closed.
