This locomotive was built by Peckett & Sons at Bristol in 1923 to work at the Pukemiro Colliery where it was employed until 1967 when the mine closed. The nearby Glen Afton Mine closed in 1973.
The railway that the locomotive operated on at Pukemiro opened in December 1915 to transport coal from the Pukemiro and Rotowaro mines out to the Main Trunk Line in Huntly. The line was extended in 1924 by the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company (NZCDC) to supply the boilers at the dairy factory in Glen Afton.
From 1967 until 1972 the locomotive was owned by the State Mines Department at Rotowaro. In 1972 the locomotive was acquired by The Bush Tramway Club at Rotowaro.
In 1974 the Bush Tramway Club leased the Rotowaro to Glen Afton section of the railway and has since purchased it.
The locomotive has since steamed again on the line it was originally purchased to work on.
