This locomotive was built by the Robert Stephenson & Company in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1915 for the South African Railways (SAR).
It entered service as a class 14 locomotive but following being refitted with a Watson boiler it was reclassified as a class 14R engine.
From July 1981 until April 1982 the locomotive was on hire to the Rhodesia/Zimbabwe Railways.
The locomotive is owned by the Transport Heritage Foundation (THF) and believed to be at the Krugersdorp Locomotive Depot.
