In 1986 the construction of a new working replica of a Bloomer commenced at Tyseley and was 90% complete by 1990.

It then remained untouched for many years but it is now hoped to complete the project and have it steaming in 2019 (and possibly on the main line).

The construction of the tender was assisted by the discovery of three existing original tenders – two at Northwich and one at Machynlleth. The two tenders from Northwich and the brake gear from the other tender were acquired for the project.

By February 2018 the locomotive was still without driving wheels and a cab.

In May 2019 it was announced that Tyseley planned to complete the locomotive by 2026 when HS2 is planned to reach Birmingham. The plan is to display the locomotive outside the Birmingham Curzon Street terminus.
