This locomotive was built by Andrew Barclay in 1927 for the Burnley Council Gas Department where it became BCGD No 1.
1927 was the year the site at Oswalds Street was extended.
The locomotive continued to work at Bolton following the nationalisation of the industry in 1949 when it passed into the ownership of the North Western Gas Board.
I have seen it written that it was the last steam locomotive working at a gasworks in Lancashire.
It is now on static display at the East Lancashire Railway Transport Museum at Bury.
