This locomotive was built by Beyer, Peacock and Company at Gorton, Manchester in 1921 for the South African Railways (SAR).

It is one of the locomotives that was rebuilt as a class 15AR engine.

The locomotive is privately owned by the Railway Society of South Africa and is at the Hilton Station.
