This locomotive was built by Beyer Peacock at Gorton, Manchester in 1890 for the Silverton Tramway Company.
In 1901 the locomotive was acquired by the Sulphide Corporation Central Mine as a replacement for a locomotive destroyed in a collision.
In December 1941 the locomotive was sold to the Broken Hill Proprietary (BHP) Whyalla steelworks for use in conjunction with the new Blast Furnace where it carried the No 3.
After being taken out of service the locomotive was placed on a plinth in a childrens playground at Whyalla.
In 1983 the badly corroded locomotive was acquired by the Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society and moved to Quorn where it was placed in the long-term storage shed.
