This locomotive was built by Beyer, Peacock & Company at Gorton, Manchester in 1939 for the South Africa Railways (SAR).

The locomotive is based on the Patron’s Country Narrow Gauge Railway in KwaZulu, Natal which ran on the former branch of the Umzinto–Donnybrook narrow-gauge railway which was closed around 1985.
It has steamed in preservation but it is not known if it is currently operational.
