Beyer Peacock Works No 7801 – RR 736

This locomotive was built by Beyer, Peacock and Company at Gorton, Manchester for the Rhodesia Railways (later Zambia Railways and National Railways of Zimbabwe) in 1957 and entered service as number 736 as a class 20A locomotive.

Following invitations to tender for the locomotive it was purchased by the author, A.D. (Dusty) Durrant for $24,000.

736 was purchased by tender USD. It was then stored at Bulawayo Railway Museum. Upon his death in 1999 it was willed to the museum where it remains on display although not cosmetically restored.
