This locomotive was built by Beyer, Peacock and Company at Gorton, Manchester for the Rhodesia Railways (later Zambia Railways and National Railways of Zimbabwe) in 1957 and entered service as number 741 as a class 20A locomotive.
The sixty one class 20 locomotives were by far the most powerful locomotives on the Rhodesia Railways, and were rated to pull 1,250 long tons (1,270 t) up a 1.55% (1 in 64) incline.
The locomotive is on display outside the station in Ndola in Zambia but has many parts missing and is in a poor state.
The station is operated by Zambia Railways and is on the operating sections of the Cape to Cairo Railway.
