Dübs and Company Works No 3347 – CGR 174 & SAR 454

This locomotive was built by Dübs and Company in Glasgow in 1895 for the Cape Government Railways (CGR) where it entered service as number 174 on the Western System.

In 1912 it was renumbered as South Africa Railways (SAR) number 454 following the creation of the Union of South Africa in the previous year.

After being withdrawn from service on the SAR the locomotive spent some time in store at the De Aar motive power depot.

The locomotive is privately owned by Shaun Ackerman and is under restoration at Germiston Steam Depot.
