Dübs and Company Works No 4273 – NGR 219, SAR 330

This locomotive was built by Dübs and Company in Glasgow in 1902 for the Natal Government Railways (NGR) where it carried the number NGR 219.

It was taken into the South African Railways (SAR) stock in 1912 as SAR 294.

The locomotive was one of the first three locomotives to be modified to a 4-8-2T engine by the SAR and reclassified as a class H2 locomotive numbered SAR 330.

It was also one of the last two members of the class in service at Greyville Locomotive Depot where it was mainly employed on shunting around the coal stage. The depot closed in September 1976.

The locomotive is now part of the National Collection and is on display at the Outeniqua Transport Museum.
