The Macknade Sugar Company opened a sugar plantation and the Macknade Sugar Mill in 1874 which is the oldest raw sugar mill in Australia.
Close to the mill there is a six kilometre long jetty at Lucinda which is the world’s largest sugar loading facility.
As at about 2000 this locomotive had been dismantled for restoration and proposed conversion to 2ft 6in gauge for use on the Walhalla Goldfields Railway. This plan was never completed and the locomotive was sold in a dismantled state to a private buyer.
It is believed that the locomotive is being restored to steam to operate on the Alambi Private Railway, using the boiler from a John Fowler locomotive.
