This locomotive was built by Hudswell Clarke & Co in Leeds in 1891 and was one of four purchased by Edward Keane who was a railway construction contractor for use in the building of the Midland Railway in Western Australia.

The locomotive was later sold to sold to G. Baxter for use at Baxter’s Preston Timber Company in Donnybrook. It acquired the name Preston here.

The locomotive later worked for the WA Goldfields Firewood Supply Ltd at Kurrawang.

In 1920 the locomotive was sold to the Western Australian Government Meatworks for use at Wyndham where it remained until 1953.
