Locomotive Company Works No 20229 – SAR 1555

This locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in 1913 for the South African Railways (SAR).

It entered service as a class 4 locomotive but following being refitted with a Watson boiler it was reclassified as a class 4R engine.

The locomotive is owned by the Transport Heritage Foundation (THF) and is part of the National Collection and is believed to be at the Millsite Locomotive Depot, Krugersdorp.
