This locomotive was built in 1904 by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow for the Central South African Railways (CSAR).

In 1912 it was renumbered as SAR 929 following the formation of the South African Railways.
After being taken out of service in 1975 the locomotive was sold to the President Steyn Gold Mine near Welkon where it carried the number 6. The locomotive is privately owned by the Sandstone Estate and the locomotive is thought to be at the Bloemfontein Locomotive Depot.
