This locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in 1907 as works number 17780.
It was classified as a 4-4-0 class E1 engine.
It was used to employ passenger trains on the Great Indian Peninsula Railway and the North Western Railway (British India). It was also employed hauling VIP and royal trains when it carried a name appropriate to the person being conveyed.
In 1922 the locomotive was fitted with a superheater.
In 1941 it was re-built at the Mughalpura Workshops and reclassified as a class EM locomotive.
The locomotive is now preserved in the National Railway Museum in Delhi.
