This locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in 1910 for the Central South African Railways (CSAR) where it entered service as number 674.

On the establishment of the South African Railways (SAR) it became SAR number 756.
It was originally classed by the SAR as a class 10B locomotive but this was changed to 10BR following the fitting of a Watson Standard no. 1 boiler in the 1930s.
The locomotive is owned by the Transport Heritage Foundation (THF) and is at Kroonstad Station.
