Fifty five class 12 locomotives were built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow for Rhodesia Railways.

- 12 in 1930numbered 247-258
The type was extremely popular with staff and was able to haul all types of traffic without difficulty, being economical in the use of coal and water. In the early stages this engine was universal on all main lines but towards the end of its commercial life became associated principally with the lines north of Zimbabwe.
As of June 1975 there were 6 class 12 locomotives in service.
- 5 were based at Bulawayo
- 1 was based at Gwelo
Most of the class were withdrawn before 1978 but one example, no.190, was steamed for steam specials in the 1990s.
North British Locomotive Company Works No 23391 – RR 190
This locomotive was built in 1926 by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow for Rhodesia Railways.
After being withdrawn from service it was retained to work special trains.
The locomotive is now at the Railway Museum in Bulawayo.
