North British Locomotive Company    Works No 24172 2439

This locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in 1935 for the South African Railways (SAR).

It is owned by the National Collection by the Transport Heritage Foundation (THF) and is in the Outiniqua Transport Museum which opened in September 1998.

The museum is one of Transnet Heritage Foundation museums and is situated in the former PX-goods shed in George.

The last operating 19C 2439 ‘Sandra’ double heads with 24 3675 on the Cape Mainline near Wellington heading for Worcester with the SAR Travel special in 1980.
