This locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in 1945 for the South African Railways.
For details of class 15F go to Class 15F
It is owned by the Transport Heritage Foundation (THF) and is at the Germiston Locomotive Depot
For some time it was used by the Reefstreamers to haul tourist trains from Johannesburg Metropolis to the village of Magaliesburg. The Reefstraemers organisation was largely run by volunteers and began operating charter trains on the national network in 1995.
Reefstreamers demonstrated their ability to restore, maintain and repair the locomotives which haul the charter trains. The lack of financial backing or funding and the problems associated with dealing with Government agencies proved too much and in December 2019 it was announced that Reefstreamers was shutting down.
The locomotive is believed to be still at Germiston Locomotive Depot.
