North British Locomotive Company – Works No 27342 3482

This locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company in 1954 and entered service with SAR as a class 25 locomotive. It was rebuilt as a class 25NC none condensing locomotive in the 1970s.

The locomotive is now on loan from the Transnet Foundation to Steamnet 2000 and is located at the Beaconsfield depot at Kimberley. It has been undergoiong restoration for some time and in February 2000 passed a steam test.
