This locomotive was built by the North British Locomotive Company in 1954 and entered service with SAR as a class 25 locomotive. It was rebuilt as a class 25NC none condensing locomotive in the 1970s

This locomotive is said to be privately owned and located at the locomotive depot at Kimberley
