This locomotive was built by Vulcan Foundry at Newton-le-Willows in Lancashire in 1950 as works no 5850.

It ran as 7776 on the Eastern India Railways and 24467 on the Northern Railways.

It is now preserved at the National Railway Museum at Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
