This locomotive was build in 1957 by Sentinel Waggon Works at Shrewsbury. Sentinel Work No 9629

It was one of the last Sentinel steam shunters to be built.  These were designed for one man operation and were primarily employed in industrial plants, although both the LMS and LNER operated a number, although not of this particular type.
